MMU hosts global business and economics conferences Business School to host Academy of International Business THE UNIVERSITY has secured two major international conferences for business and economics.

The Business School will be hosting the annual conference of the Academy of International Business, from 16-18 April, welcoming delegates from the UK, Europe, North-America and beyond.

This is a major coup for MMU and particularly for the Centre for International Business and Innovation (CIBI) which beat strong competition from London to secure the conference.

Keynote speakers include senior officials from the United Nations (UNCTAD), Oxfam and the Director of the German-British Chamber of Industry and Commerce. CIBI are also pleased to announce that Oxford University and the Royal Geographical Society are running special tracks for the conference.

Professor Heinz Tuselmann, Director of the CIBI, will be the conference chair,

The School will also host the European Association for Evolutionary Political Economy Annual Conference.

MMU outstripped strong competitors from the Russell Group thanks to inspirational presentation of our bid to the EAEPE Council by Dr Andrea Bernardi.

The EAEPE sponsors the Journal of Institutional Economics which is devoted to the study of the nature, role and evolution of institutions in the economy, including firms, states, markets, money, households and other vital institutions and organizations.

With a membership of around 500, EAEPE is now the foremost European association for heterodox economists and is the second-largest association for economists in Europe.

Organisers

The fascinating conference theme is ‘What happens in a society without traditional industries?’

Dr Andrea Bernardi and Dr Olga Kuznetsova(Management Department) will lead the organisation of the conference.

Rod Humphreys, Acting Dean of the Business School, said: “Many congratulations to Heinz and the CIBI team and to Andrea and Olga.”
